Many people feel that a white smile says a lot about them. Unfortunately, as we age things like stains, chips and old fillings, can stain the teeth in your smile, leaving you feeling self-conscious and wanting to explore your cosmetic restoration options.

Fortunately, the dental professionals at Team Dental at River Oaks and Burke are highly trained and well versed in a wide range of cosmetic restoration options. The specific imperfection you want addressed will determine which option is best for you.

Dental veneers are essentially thin porcelain shells, custom designed to fit over the faces of the teeth in your smile. The porcelain material can be shaded to give you a white smile that lasts a very long time.

It takes two separate appointments to fit your teeth with porcelain dental veneers. The first step involves a Team Dental at River Oaks and Burke dentist examine your teeth and take a few X-rays. This will determine that there is sufficient, healthy enamel to securely anchor the porcelain dental veneers. If one or more of your teeth has been compromised by past dental work or lacks enough strong healthy enamel, we might recommend that the tooth be restored with a crown.

The dentist will take an impression of the teeth in your smile. This is sent the dental lab where your custom dental veneers are made.

Once the dental lab has completed your custom porcelain dental veneers, Team Dental at River Oaks and Burke will call you to schedule the second appointment. During this appointment, the dentist will remove a small amount of enamel from the face of each tooth before cementing your new dental veneers in place.
