Brushing your teeth regularly can keep your teeth bright white and cavity-free. This is common knowledge, yet for many Americans, brushing can still be a challenge. That is why our team would like to tell you more about why brushing your teeth is so important.

Have you ever noticed plaque on your teeth? That is that white sticky film that sometimes forms on and between your teeth. It is made of live bacteria, which feed on nutrients from food particles in your mouth and create an acidic byproduct. Within a day, plaque can harden into tartar, which causes gum disease and cavities. Only your dentist can safely remove tartar from your teeth.

Brush your teeth for two minutes, two times a day. Use a toothbrush that has soft bristles, to ensure a good clean without scratching up your tooth enamel or gum tissue. Brush using gentle pressure, using short strokes (about tooth-wide). Be sure to include flossing in your daily hygiene routine.
